Meet my new favorite jacket...

Yes, just snagged this beautiful kelly green colored peacoat jacket for the fall (and hint: guess how much= $40 from Guess!)

Today I paired this with white and black and added a little menswear inspired twist- a color stripped scarf that you can drape around the neck like a tie. Cool right?

Ponchos

Yes, who would have thought ponchos would come back in style, but lately I've seen them everywhere in every color you can imagine.

so during a recent shopping trip for winter sweaters I picked up one my self (well actually 2, an orange one (see below) and a cream tan).

Ponchos are so easy to wear as a cover-up or light jacket, or just to wear around the office (since mine seems to be always freezing!)

Brrr it's gettin' colder

So we had a brief stint of high 70/80 degree weather...but today its back to the cold. (which secretly I'm excited that I can finally wear my favorite things...scarfs!) This one is beautiful, love the colors and with brown, tan, cream and black all in one, this H&M scarf practically goes with everything I own!

preppy sweater vest

It may look total prep- the black and brown stripped sweater vest, but every time I wear this I get so many compliments. I love wearing a crisp white collared shirt underneath to make this pop.

Classy dots

I played a little dress-up today, and went with the polka-dot ensemble...wear it with the jacket or not, the best part is that you can wear so many bright colors to dress it up and change the outfit a bit..I personally love the black and turquoise pairing...so cute!

My go-to fall outfit, add some boots and a colorful scarf...it's fairly easy to be fashionable while not trying to hard.

Cute right? who would know i purchased this in the little boy's section...the classic corduroy tan vest...and makes the outfit a tad dressy.

I've worn this dress so many ways, just goes to show how accessories can totally change it into a brand new outfit.

I love the long sweater with this or you could wear a fitted jacket, or sweater vest...and the boots are optional, you can also pair with nice heels or those short ankle boots would be cute too!

Going to a concert tonight, so pumped!

My favorite singer in the whole world Regina Specter is playing at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C.....so pumped!

So I wanted to wear something flirty that would also be good for concert going in the evening.

The silk number is from Banana Republic and I paired a cream silk shirt underneath for a little color.

oversize dress shirts...

So I got this oversized dress shirt over a Nordies half yearly sale and needed some ideas for what to do with it. So after about an hour in my closet digging out some sweaters, belts and other combos...Here's some ideas for how to wear it:

black and white dinner party

My favorite hostess of the mostess Pam is hosting a black and white dinner party tonight and the requirement: wear black and white only.

Not only will all be looking like giant oreo cookies, but we also will probably be eating them...

So i brought out the black tights, boots and the sweater and went with this. I wanted only white to be in the skirt so it stands out.

French inspired embroiderer patterns continue to remain in style. I've worn this shirt a couple times this summer and still think it works as a fall option.

Funny story: as I was running errands at bed bath and beyond i noticed i was matching the nice selection of bedspreads they had on sale with this same pattern...haha

...and the table clothes, towels, shower curtains...

who says furniture patterns can't be wearable?

big interview today...

We have a big interview today with a special guest, so I wanted to look my best.

A tight black skirt and nice pressed blouse is timeless, but to make it a little more hip I added this fun grey wool tuxedo jacket from urban that I'm seeing everywhere this fall.

sweater dresses

I love, love sweater dresses...

So here's a new one from Anthro which I think is pretty classic, especially the loose collar and cuffed sleeves...way cute! I think grey matched with black is the best combo for this. Many options to make it work appropriate: like those heel black boots for one. Add some leggings or tights and viola!

The belt is optional, but I think it pulls the outfit together.

Monday mondays

I thought this flowery blouse deserved to paired with some tight dark wash jeans and my favorite purple flats.

Added a little black sham cover up and I think it works fairly well together....right?

how about some high waisted cords anyone?

I hope I don't look like I'm too much in the 70's with the bell-bottom pants...but these cords at Anthropology are too fun to pass up...and comfy mind you! An extra plus...:)

Fall, oh how i love thee

Bringing out the fall colors again

...this time with my favorite fall sweaters!

I finally finished reorganizing the closet (took me all week!) and now have a nice selection of cardigans, sweaters and ponchos to wear...I haven't seen them in a year!

Nice to be reunited again! Since I forgot about these it's like getting a whole new weardrobe again. (Don't laugh, you know it's true!)

Hence- brown/tan banana republic cardigan (Crica 2006?) and those new brown cords I bought ($50).

I need coffee ASAP

Wake UP! I had a rough night last night, stayed a little too long at an after work happy hour and am trying my best not to go crawl back into bed and say good night. Why does work have to get in the way???

Well as you can see I'm armed with coffee...lots of caffeine...it will be my main accessory today. haha

Oh man, is it wrong to feel I'm single-handily keeping Starbucks in business???

Lunch dates

The classic black cocktail dress...with a twist.

I've got an important lunch date today and what's a girl to wear? Something chic and fashionable, but professional since its work clients were talking about.

But forgo the boring suit...I'm definitely not the type if you can tell.

So I added a belt to spice up the outfit and this really cool red necklace (World Market?! can you believe $12).

But don't accessorize with another piece, a belt and a necklace is enough. Don' want to look like you are trying too hard to impress.

I must be watching too many Rachel Zoe episodes on Bravo...because I was totally inspired when i put together this chic outfit this morning.

The black boot, black tights, grey jersey dress and a scarf to accessorize, I am loving everything about this...
