where's waldo?

Yup, it's a dead give away...the red and white stripes. Maybe I should hide behind a tree and see if people can spot me.

Happy Friday all, as you can tell, today is fairly casual.

Wearing a red and white stripe hooded sweater (New York & Co $30) and jeans, paired with my fav comfort loafers.

I think Waldo might be on to something...for a guy that didn't want to attract any attention to himself, he seems to have done the opposite!

blinded by the light...

So this Thursday morning I decided to bring out the prep, (cough) I mean not to make fun of 'preppy attire' but to base today's ensemble on this blue and green plaid headband that I adore. (see below)

Using this color combo, I added this green keylime skirt and paired with that navy blue button down shirt from Jcrew...

It's cool to be prep.

free flowing...

Good wednesday morning,

Today I brought out my favorite old skirt that I think I've been wearing since my interning days back in college. It's a GAP classic skirt that is long and free flowing, easy to dress up or dress down.

I've paired this with a black t-shirt before, but today I went with white and added a belt.

A jean jacket goes great with this too, if you want to be more casual.

welcome back to the grind!

After a nice relaxing weekend, it always seems to be rough getting 'back into routine.'

But returning to work also means more creative ways to pick out fun work ensembles that show off that new tan, right!?

This morning I picked out a black knee length cotton dress from Anthro ($60 on Sale!). This dress is always easy to wear when it's hot out, because it can be worn dressy or casual.

The best part of this dress is the criss-cross back and around the neck, which is fun to wear cause you don't need to accessorize.
Welcome back to the grind!

Good friday

Happy day before Memorial weekend, everyone!

Hope you all have the beach and warmer weather on the brains, it's time for a vacation!

Today I went for nautical, pairing a simple stripped tank-top with a blue cardigan and khaki shorts (all from J.Crew, tank-top Old Navy!)

Then just wore my white sandals that are easy and chic...

No much else to say, but if it's going to be a nice one weather-wise today, I'm planing on spending most of the day outside the confinement of the cubicle..(let's hope!) Hour lunch break anyone?

big blue whales

Another great day~ Weather is beautiful, morning has been busy and a long 3-day weekend on the horizon...what more could you ask for?

Today I wore a blue silk shirt (a TJ Maxx purchase, no clue when I actually bought this) but paired it with those pretty yellow heels and black capris..

These colors are fun, makes it a little more spring-like...but you could also be conservative and just wear black heels if you like.

Maybe even pair with another fun, light scarf?

or turquoise jewelery? or a fun jewel brooche...the possibilities are endless!

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that...

happy wednesday!

I wanted to be airy, comfortable today, since it's b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l outside!

Here's a jeresy knit navy blue stapless dress, that actually can be turned into a skirt...it's from JCrew's versatile line $40)

I originally bought it for my soon-to-come Greece trip, a perfect slip dress to cover my swimsuit while I lounge by the pool...ahhh, I can't wait!

To make it office appropriate (because I think showing off too much shoulder would grant me evil stares from colleagues) I paired this with that Ann Taylor seersucker jacket that I occasionally wear when I feel professional/conservative.

Added some gold flats and a funky necklace... (See below)

pretty in pink?

Not only is it my favorite 80s movie, but I think everyone should be like Molly Ringwald and try to bring more pink in their life.

I paired this silk shirt with a scarf to add some color (scarf is actually from Old Navy?! who would guess? $10)

Then you can add a small belt around the waist for an accent and leave the shirt untucked..or tuck it in and pair it with a high-waist skirt.

Add some sandals and voila...Pretty in pink, indeed!

Roses are blue

It's a J.Crew morning. After a shopping extravaganza with my cousin Janine this weekend, I was excited this morning to show-off my new outfit.

Navy blue button up shirt ($29) and a blue and white flowered skirt ($34) both from J.Crew...

Paired it with my brown belt and blue heels...classic pretty.

Ok, so I think it's official...everything I have in my closet combines these three colors...brown, black and blue!

I don't know what it is, but I love the color combo, actually can't get enough of it.

And I'M NOT sure who ever said you can't wear brown and black together, but I'm not a fan of their advice...look how good I look! haha

Hope this blog is starting to inspire you, maybe give you some ideas of color combos you can pair with what you have in your closets...

Have a great weekend everyone!

weekend on the brain ...

Ah man, is it really only Thursday??

Haha, Guess I'm not the glass half-full kinda gal, more like a let's drink this and move on so we can party!

I've notice I've been pairing a lot of things with this classic A-line skirt, but I think it should be a staple to any young professionals wardrobe. It's easy, comfortable and practically will go with anything...I guess it's kinda been my go-to outfit when I'm feeling unmotivated to pick out something to wear in the morning.

Life shuffles, pretty ruffles and damn do I need some truffles...

This week has been an emotional roller coaster, and maybe its quite fitting to compare clothes to our moods (or how they can affect our moods/confidence...retail therapy anyone??) but after feeling like I got steamrolled this week, I'm getting back up, dusting myself off and making a goal to look fabulous as ever.

So no more pity parties or gorging on chocolate ...

And thanks to my friend Gillian who gave me these *awesome* linen pinstripe pants, which I can wear throughout the summer because the material is so light. Love them! xoxo

a girl can't have a bad day with cute shoes on...

I am in love...and no, not that boy-crazy kind

...I am in love with my pretty new yellow bandolino shoes! ($50 on Sale!)

I wanted to make a statement wearing these shoes, so I paired it with this poka dotted dress I bought at H&M...(silk $39)

Now I can't wait to hit the town!

monday, monday...

Sorry all, I am slacking on the blogging lately, but after the crazy weekend I had attending White House dinners, hosting a bachlorette party and throwing a BBQ...I am one tired girl!

And so this morning I woke up super late, forgot my camera cord to upload photos and missed my usual morning bus...

But I did manage to look somewhat decent and bring out those capri pants from my summer clothes...because it's gettin' warmer! yay!

sun dresses

Comfort is the key when its hot outside. But what to wear that's still office appropriate? ....Bring on the summer dresses!

I love this dress because it's easy to pair with sandals of several colors: white, brown, yellow, tan...it's all about drawing out the colors in the dress. These sandals below are a recent purchase from nine west ($35--from DSW of course!)

Bows and buttons

I feel like a present today...all tied up in a bow.

Lately, I've seen this style come back in and out...the button up shirt with the bow around the neck. And this Summer seems to be bringing bows back in style.

This shirt is from Banana Republic ($34) and it is easy to dress up (by tying the bow at the top) or dress down by leaving the bow undone.

I added this Ann Taylor vest (with cute detailing around the trim and pockets!)and black capri pants...but even a white skirt could be worn with this, or even some khaki pants.

Rain, rain go away...

Ughh, enough of this Seattle weather...I'm ready to retire the rainboots and bring on those flip flops!

In effort to hide my gloomy mood, I'm trying to mix some color into these boring grey days, hence the red. (But if you know anything about me, it's that I'm obsessed with the color...you should see my room!)

This red dress is actually a Nordstrom purchase, but I have worn it with brown and black items. Today I paired it with this navy Ann Taylor suit jacket that I have worn with another dress of mine (See: my April 15 posting) and stuck with brown loafers.

But you can pair this dress with several colors, it's nice to bring out some accent colors in the dress and pair with a matching top. Just a little advice: if you wear black shoes, stick with black accessories, or if you go lighter like say a white, wear brown shoes...

And the best part about this, is that you can dress it up for the seasons...like dark colors in the winter and light colors in the summer.

You get the idea!

happy cinco de mayo!

yeah, no sombrero in this ensemble...but wouldn't it be funny if I wore one of these to work? haha.

Although its a holiday worth celebrating, I picked a bit of a boring attire as oppose to the festive get-ups.

Today I chose to match my blue striped dress shirt and a grey sweater vest that I paired with a black skirt.

Nothing fancy, but definitely a little more office appropriate then say, a sombrero...

Linen bliss

Linen is a hard fabric to wear, it wrinkles often can be itchy to wear and sometimes is just down right impractical to look neat and crisp, rather than looking like a wrinkly mess! (no i didn't just sleep in my car!)

But despite having to iron it every time I wear it (and more!) this white shirt with black stitching is one of my favorites...paired today with that same H&M black belt that I adore and a red cardigan.

I think it looks a little parisian, what do you think?

pretty white sandals

If there was just one required item everyone should purchase in preparing for summer, I'd say it would be a good pair of comfortable, but stylish sandals...And for me, it's these pretty white sandals from TARGET! ($20)

Found these the other week and fell in love! Not only are they cheap, but also office appropriate (score!) and no heels, so comfy and easy to slip on.

I also went for the nautical theme again today, added a red scarf to brighten up the outfit and give it some color.
